Filming for The Mandalorian and Grogu, starring Pedro Pascal and Sigourney Weaver, has wrapped, as confirmed by co-writer Dave Filoni.

Speaking to Extra TV during the Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Disneyland premiere, when the interviewer asked if The Mandalorian and Grogu had finished filming…

Filoni said, “Nothing… nothing I can share, of course. But, you know, I’m very excited about it as well. John and I had a great time working on it, as we always do. It was great seeing Grogu; he’s become such a star. It’s amazing how the show has evolved.” Filoni added, “The puppetry has come such a long way since season one, and now with the film, it’s incredible to see what we can do. Working with the team, whom I’ve worked with quite a bit, has been fantastic.”

Directed by Jon Favreau from a screenplay co-written by Favreau and Filoni, it is part of the Star Wars franchise and a continuation of the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian.

In the film, Pedro Pascal stars as Din Djarin, also known as The Mandalorian, a bounty hunter operating in the galaxy’s outer reaches. Grogu, a young being of Yoda’s species and Djarin’s ward, is brought to life through a combination of animatronics, puppetry, and visual effects. Sigourney Weaver joins the cast, along with Garazeb ‘Zeb’ Orrelios from the animated series Star Wars Rebels.

In The Mandalorian and Grogu, a lone bounty hunter is assigned to capture Grogu, a mysterious and adorable creature. However, he forms a strong bond with Grogu and endeavors to shield him from numerous threats, delving into his changing role in a post-Empire galaxy.

The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Favreau, Filoni, and Ian Bryce.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released in theaters on May 22, 2026, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
