The new set images of David Corenswet and James Gunn on the set of ‘Superman‘ have been leaked during filming in Cleveland. According to reports, production on ‘Superman’ resumes tomorrow, Monday, and will continue in Metropolis through July 17. The images show Corenswet’s Superman coming out of Metropolis City Hall.
Gunn confirmed that he respects old Superman movies and that the script he made was definitely a sincere superhero movie. The film will be the DC Universe’s first film and the third installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, created by Gunn and Peter Safran. The film is being shot entirely in IMAX.
On March 6, 2024, Gunn revealed to Collider that the first scenes for ‘Superman’ had been filmed in Norway. Gunn explained the location choice in an interview, saying:
”We have filmed the first scenes [in Svalbard], which show Superman fleeing to the Fortress of Solitude. We wanted a place that was beautiful and felt like being in the middle of the Arctic, so we looked at several places in the world. But there were many things that sold Svalbard for us over the other places. First, there is the natural beauty. But there’s also the fact that you’ll find a varied landscape here that you won’t find anywhere else. Nature gives a special feeling.”
In the film, Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, Gabriela De Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The updated logline for ‘Superman’ reveals that Superman, now a cub reporter in Metropolis, sets out on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.
Gunn’s ‘Superman’ will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
