Filming for DC’s Clayface has officially wrapped, as confirmed by Tom Rhys Harries.
In an Instagram Story, Harries shared a behind-the-scenes photo showing a dressing room with the words “CF PICTURE WRAP” written on the mirror, confirming that production on Clayface has been completed. See the image below.

Directed by James Watkins from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Based on the DC Comics villain of the same name, it will be the DCU’s third film and the sixth installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. The film is described as an R-rated “Hollywood horror tale,” inspired by the Feat of Clay episodes in Batman: The Animated Series.
Here’s plot details for Clayface:
Clayface follows an aspiring actor (Harries) whose face is disfigured by a gangster. As a last resort, he turns to a fringe, Elizabeth Holmes–style scientist for help. At first, the experiment appears successful, but—well, it wouldn’t be a horror movie if the story ended there, would it?
During filming in the UK, several set images were leaked online. According to reports, Harries’ character, Hagen, undergoes surgery after his face is disfigured by a mobster. However, the procedure goes wrong, transforming him into Clayface.

Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane in 1940, Clayface is a Batman villain known for his shape-shifting abilities and clay-like form. Over the years, several characters have taken on the name, though their powers have remained largely the same. The film’s description hints that this version of Clayface will “haunt Gotham City, alternating between villain and ally of Batman,” suggesting he will take on an anti-hero role.

In a recent interview with CBS Mornings, DC Studios Co-Head James Gunn revealed that Clayface, which is slated for release in Fall 2026, is “a totally different thing” from Superman and Supergirl. “Although it’s in the same universe, it’s a complete horror film,” he said. It’s hard to overstate how exciting that promise is.
In the film, Harries plays the role of Matt Hagen, also known as Clayface. Naomi Ackie plays Caitlin Bates, a biotech CEO who treats Matt after he is disfigured by a mobster. Eddie Marsan portrays Clayface’s manager, while Max Minghella plays John, Caitlin Bates’ fiancé and the film’s secondary antagonist.
Produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris, with Chantal Nong serving as executive producer.
Clayface is scheduled to hit theaters on September 11, 2026.
