James Gunn‘s upcoming DC Universe projects are still to be announced, and we can expect the unexpected.
According to @ApocHorseman on X (Twitter), who is the editor of Nexus Point News and r/DCULeaks, a recent Q&A revealed details about upcoming DCU projects. He stated that Darren Aronofsky is still attached to direct the Plastic Man movie.

- Strange Adventures will be a series; Edi Gathegi will return as Mr. Terrific; the series already has writers attached.
- Darren Aronofsky is still directing the Plastic Man movie.
- Actors are already being cast for the roles of Krem, Ruthye, Zor-El, and Alura in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
- An animated series focusing on a magical character is in development.
- The Brave and the Bold will be the next film that gets the green light if things continue to go well.
- Jeremy Slater is still the writer of The Authority.
- Matthew Vaughn had talks to direct The Authority, but nothing came of it.
- Paradise Lost already has writers attached.
- Hal Jordan is already being cast in HBO’s Lanterns.
- Both The Brave and the Bold and The Batman Part 2 will begin filming in 2025.
Recently, Gunn clarified that the DCU canon will start with the animated series ‘Creature Commandos‘ and then ‘Superman.’
As for the DCU, Gunn said, “Nothing is canon until Creature Commandos next year—a sort of aperitif to the DCU—and then a deeper dive into the universe with Superman: Legacy after that. It’s a very human drive to want to understand everything all the time, but I think it’s okay to be confused about what’s happening in the DCU since no one has seen anything from the DCU yet.” Gunn added, “And, yes, some actors will be playing characters they’ve played in other stories, and some plot points might be consistent with plot points from the dozens of films, shows, and animated projects that have come from DC in the past. But nothing is canon until CC and Legacy.”
