The focus of “Deadpool 3” will be on the Multiverse reaching a “breaking point” and its impact on the whole MCU. Deadpool will continue to be an integral part of the MCU. The filming begins in May 2023. Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as Wade Wilson/Deadpool.
The multiverse is connecting the MCU in Deadpool 3. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who died in Logan, comes back in the film. However, the Wolverine in Deadpool 3 is from a different timeline. Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, and The Time Variance Authority (TVA), who featured in the Loki series, both appear in the film.
Deadpool 3 Will Be R-Rated
Deadpool 3 screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick revealed that Marvel is very supportive of keeping Deadpool 3 with R-rated content. “It’s a thrill,” Reese told, “It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing. You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming—Fox and Disney, that was an external thing [separate] from our storytelling process. But we’re absolutely finding the serendipity and the gold in that situation, or we’re trying to.”
In a Cosmic Circle Podcast, Insider Alex Perez revealed some updates on Deadpool 3. He said, “If you had to ask me at what point do I think the Multiverse is going to crack open… The Multiverse isn’t going to become a plot point that’s going to affect everyone in the MCU until we reach ‘Deadpool [3]’… Moving forward, Deadpool is going to be an integral part of the MCU, but you’re not really gonna see much about him up until maybe like ‘Deadpool 3.’”
He continued, “There’s still going to be individual stories moving forward, and there’s going to be diverse plot points all around, but the Multiverse isn’t going to really kick into full effect, or it’s going to be the main storyline here on out until ‘Deadpool 3,’ because after ‘Deadpool 3,’ everything’s going to be like Multiverse story, Multiverse story, Multiverse story, from there on forward.”
Directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film is produced by Kevin Feige and Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit cinemas on November 8, 2024.
