(Note: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine).
Marvel’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘ has arrived in theaters. What I can say is, that the film marks the return of a Marvel movie, and we’ve all been waiting for this bang since ‘Avengers: Endgame.’ If your expectations are sky-high, you might be disappointed. But it’s a Deadpool movie, so there are more kill counts, fun, emotions, and mainly more F-words for the Fox and Disney universe.
From start to finish, Ryan Reynolds‘ Wade Wilson/Deadpool doesn’t stop talking, and he’s now the Marvel Jesus. Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine makes his return in the film, and the fight scene between Deadpool and Wolverine gives you goosebumps.
The CGI could have been better; nowadays, we can see the difference in Marvel films. They claim to have huge budgets, but the visual effects are often very bad. In ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ there are also a lot of flaws that CGI could have improved significantly. Marvel should note that CBMs are not Disney+ series.
The film’s opening scene features Deadpool taking out Logan’s skull, referencing his death in the 2017 movie. Suddenly, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) agents arrive, and Deadpool, using Logan’s adamantium bones, kills everyone in an R-rated sequence, complete with a stunning dance. In a flashback, Wade Wilson uses Cable’s time-traveling device to join the Avengers in Earth-616 but is rejected by Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). Heartbroken, Wade starts living without a purpose. Vanessa Carlysle (Morena Baccarin) and Wade have split, and he now lives with Blind Al (Leslie Uggams).
At Wade’s birthday party, his family and friends are all present. Suddenly, TVA members arrive in front of his house and kidnap Wade. He learns about the Marvel heroes, and Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) reveals that his universe is going to be destroyed because of the death of James ‘Logan’ Howlett, who is revealed to be the timeline’s ‘anchor being.’ Wade steals Paradox’s TemPad to travel the multiverse and find a variant of Logan to save his timeline. He meets a few, including Henry Cavill’s Wolverine. Finally, he encounters a worst-case Wolverine who had turned down an entire universe.
Wade takes the alcoholic Wolverine to the TVA, and Paradox prunes them both into the Void. In the Void, they start fighting and then meet Johnny Storm (Chris Evans), who is captured and sent to Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), whom Logan identifies as the twin sister of the X-Men leader Charles Xavier. Upon arriving at Nova’s lair, she demonstrates her power to manipulate people’s minds and explains her agreement with the TVA to stay in the Void as a gang leader. She then kills Storm and tries to puzzle Wilson with the feeling of not being needed before Alioth appears. Wilson and Logan escape before Alioth can consume them.
The rest of the plot is something you’ll have to witness on the big screen. Every cameo has significant screen time and importance in the film. The resistance members in the Void include Elektra Natchios, Eric Brooks/Blade, Remy LeBeau/Gambit, and Laura/X-23. By the end of the film, Wolverine and Deadpool form a strong bond. Overall, the film is worth watching, and the MCU is back, baby!
Are There Any Post-Credits in Deadpool & Wolverine?
There is one post-credits scene in the film where Johnny Storm makes a significant and abusive statement about Cassandra Nova.
