‘Goosebumps‘ renewed for Season 2 on Disney+ as an anthology series, featuring a whole new story and cast. The second season is set to consist of 8 episodes, according to a Disney press release.

‘Goosebumps’ Season 1 debuted on Disney+ in October 2023. Disney reported that the series premiere attracted 4.2 million total views globally across Disney+ and Hulu within the initial three days of its release. The cast for Season 1 included Ana Yi Puig, Miles McKenna, Will Price, Justin Long, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, and Rachael Harris.

Has ‘Goosebumps’ Been Renewed for Season 2?

During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, it was revealed that ‘Goosebumps’ Season 2 on Disney+ will have eight episodes, down from the first season’s ten. The show will adopt an anthology format, featuring a new cast and settings based on R.L. Stine’s book series.

The logline for Season 2 describes, “Teenage siblings discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.”

Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said, “Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart, and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year.” Davis added, “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L. Stine and to collaborate once again with Sony Pictures Television, Scholastic Entertainment, and our fantastic creative team to bring an entirely new mystery to Disney+ for season two.”

The show is developed by Nicholas Stoller and Rob Letterman, who also serve as executive producers. Hilary Winston is the showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers include Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty from Original Film, Iole Lucchese and Caitlin Friedman from Scholastic Entertainment, Conor Welch, and Erin O’Malley. Produced by Sony Pictures Television Studios for Disney Branded Television.

Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios, said, “We are incredibly proud of the work of our writers, producers, cast, and crew and the vision they brought to season one, which a new generation of fans are loving alongside those who grew up in R.L. Stine’s iconic world.” Pope added, “Like when you crack open a new book in the ‘Goosebumps’ series, we can’t wait to see how the writers flip the show on its head as we explore the series as an anthology. Thanks to Disney Branded Television, who remain steadfast partners throughout this wonderfully chilling journey.”

Disney Branded TV has announced renewals for Season 3 of the animated Disney Junior series ‘SuperKitties‘ and ‘Pupstruction.’

Davis said, With their adorable characters and heartfelt adventures, these two series have struck a chord with our preschool audience.” Davis added, “Both series exude teamwork, optimism, friendship, and resilience, and feature some pretty catchy music—just some of the signature qualities that make our Disney Junior programming a hit with kids and families alike.”

‘Goosebumps’ season 1 is now available on Disney+.
