The director of the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday has shared a cryptic tease hinting at an exciting connection between Iron Man and Doctor Doom.
On TikTok, the Russo brothers’ production company, AGBO, recently shared a video featuring two team members wearing Iron Man and Doctor Doom masks while participating in the “Bees in the Trap” social media trend. The video also shows Doctor Doom, Sue Storm, and Franklin Richards’ costumes on display. Watch the footage below.
The Russo Brothers often share mysterious hints, so fans are looking closely at their new post. Some think it suggests a stronger link between Iron Man and Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, since both are played by Robert Downey Jr. A popular theory is that Doctor Doom might actually be a version of Tony Stark, which could explain why Downey is playing both roles.
In an interview, the Russo Brothers confirmed that Tony Stark’s death in Endgame is connected to Doctor Doom’s story in Avengers: Doomsday. “We can’t explain that, as it’s part of the story. But there’s nobody else in the world who could play this character the way he’s about to.”
Speaking to Screen Rant, Simu Liu said that Avengers: Doomsday is “a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies.”
Liu added, “This movie is for all the misfits, the weirdos, and the underdogs who grew up reading comic books and believing there was hope for them — that it didn’t matter if they didn’t fit in. I think there’s always going to be a special place in my heart for this entire genre.”
Directed by the Russo brothers from a screenplay by their longtime collaborator Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film features cinematography by Newton Thomas Sigel (Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Days of Future Past) and production design by Kasra Farahani.
