For fans of the ‘Evil Dead‘ movies, we are getting an ‘Evil Dead’ animated series soon — with Bruce Campbell set to return to voice the cult favorite character Ash Williams.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con 2024 video studio, Campbell said he won’t appear as Ash again in a significant live-action movie of Evil Dead, but will be voicing the character in an animated version, hinting that such a version is in development.
Campbell says, “We are developing an animated version, like a series.” He added, “I’ll do that. I’ll do Ash’s voice all day long because my voice hasn’t aged as much as I have.”
Campbell revealed that the animated series isn’t contingent on one actor or director but instead relies on the strength of the plot. “We’re out of the cabin; Sam [Raimi] doesn’t have to direct, and I don’t have to star as Ash,” Campbell said. “The trick is to take the elements that people like, which is innocent people being tortured by a malicious entity, and it’s people who have no skills to stop it.”
Upcoming Evil Dead Movie Details:
The upcoming Evil Dead film will be directed by Francis Galluppi (The Last Stop in Yuma County). It marks the sixth installment in the Evil Dead film series, with Galluppi developing the original script for Raimi and Robert Tapert‘s Ghost House Pictures.
In a statement to Deadline, Rami said, “Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence. He is a director who shows uncommon control in his feature debut.”
No release date has been fixed for the film or animated series yet.
