The release date for the upcoming ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender‘ film has been revealed: it will hit theaters on October 10, 2025.
‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Animated Film to Follow Aang and Friends into Adulthood
According to reports, the animated film’s story will continue from the original series, focusing on Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and Toph in their late 20s to early 30s. Dante Basco will be returning to voice the adult Fire Lord Zuko role in the animated film.
Back in February 2021, Nickelodeon confirmed the launch of Avatar Studios, a new division dedicated exclusively to creating new series and movies based on Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. It is led by the original series’ creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
In an interview with Deadline, a Nickelodeon upfront presentation, network president Brian Robbins said, “We are in the early stages of developing and exploring what we are calling an entire Avatar Airbender universe.” Robbins added, “Mike and Bryan are hard at work, and I think that universe will definitely encompass a theatrical film, animation, certainly multiple TV series, and probably multiple films. I think we will be ready very soon to tell the world what is coming first, but we are not there yet because we’re in the early stages of creative development.”
Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Season 2 in Development
The live-action adaptation of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ recently premiered on Netflix. According to What’s on Netflix, a writer’s room for Season 2 has been active since January 2023. However, the series has not been officially renewed yet by Netflix.
‘Avatar: The Last Airbender,’ which aired for three seasons, follows the adventures of the main protagonist Aang, and his friends, who must save the world by defeating Fire Lord Ozai and ending the destructive war with the Fire Nation.
‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ will hit theaters on October 10, 2025.
