Taika Waititi has confirmed that Chris Hemsworth is in talks to return for ‘Thor 5‘ with Marvel Studios.
Marvel recently fired Waititi and confirmed he won’t direct ‘Thor 5.’ The decision follows criticism of the last ‘Thor’ film for cringe moments.
Marvel is Ready with ‘Thor 5’ Script
In an interview with Inverse, Waititi revealed that talks between Hemsworth and Marvel for a fifth Thor movie are underway, but he feels the need for a break.
Waititi said, “I needed a break from that (the Thor films).” Waititi added, “It’s a very draining process working on these films for two and a half years and nonstop.”
If production begins in late 2024, we can expect a release in 2026 for ‘Thor 5.’ This movie will be part of Marvel Phase 7 and is expected to be released before ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ Marvel is set to resume production on major projects like ‘Deadpool 3,’ ‘Blade,’ and ‘Fantastic Four‘ in January 2024. In Thor 5, Hemsworth will return as Thor, Brett Goldstein as Hercules, India Rose Hemsworth as Love, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Waititi as Korg, Russell Crowe as Zeus, Carly Rees as Miek, and Kat Dennings as Doctor Darcy Lewis.
What is the Plot of ‘Thor 5’?
Thor 5 focuses on Thor and Hercules battle. it will be a continuation of Thor: Love and Thunder. The mid-credit of ‘Love and Thunder’ gives a first look at Hercules, portrayed by Brett Goldstein. Zeus orders Hercules to kill Thor. In Marvel comics, One of the more recent fights between the two muscular gods didn’t take place in Thor’s series, but in Herc’s book, The Incredible Hercules. This was during the brief period when Zeus’ son took over The Incredible Hulk comic from Big Green. It’s another light-hearted story, where we saw Herc use Thor’s armor to masquerade as the Son of Odin. He even borrowed his father’s lightning bolts to sell the idea that he was now the God of Thunder. But when the real Thor found out, he dressed up as Herc, and the pair went toe-to-toe. It was “Hercuthor” vs. “Thorcules.” And it was as delightfully ridiculous as it sounded.
