Brie Larson Trusts Iman Vellani’s Timelines in ‘The Marvels’: “She Really Does the Math”
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Larson expressed her trust in Iman Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan, saying, “I’ve just learned to trust Iman because she really has her timelines in order.” Larson shook her head and added, “She’s the one that’s always schooling us. I wouldn’t know how old Carol is without her. She really does the math.”
Larson and Kevin Feige discussed the idea of introducing Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau early on. Kamala debuted in Ms. Marvel, while Monica appeared as a child in Captain Marvel before making her present-day debut in WandaVision. She said, “This was something Kevin and I had talked about from the beginning, that this was the way this story made sense to go.”
Teyonah Parris talks about leading ‘The Marvels’ alongside Brie Larson and Iman Vellani. “I’m excited that the MCU has three lead women, all from very diverse backgrounds, and they’re all baddies in their own way.”
‘The Marvels’ is a sequel to “Captain Marvel” (2019), continues the “Ms. Marvel” miniseries (2022), and is the 33rd film in the MCU. Directed by Nia DaCosta, it stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. The story revolves around Danvers, Rambeau, and Khan swapping places when they use their powers and join forces. Most recently, the film’s post-credits details were revealed.
According to the films’s plot:
In The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as “The Marvels.”
