Exclusive: Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, Megan Mullally, and Sheryl Lee Ralph are set to star in the wedding comedy ‘The Fabulous Four,’ currently in production in Hostess City, Georgia.
‘The Fabulous Four’ follows three lifelong friends who travel to Florida to be bridesmaids at a surprise wedding for their college girlfriend.
In 2023, the film was announced by director Jocelyn Moorhouse. Sissy Spacek was initially part of the cast but later dropped out, and Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph took her place. This trend began with ‘The First Wives Club,’ and lately, Jane Fonda has starred in successful movies like ‘Book Club 2′ and ’80 for Brady’ in the same genre. These films are gaining popularity because they feature big stars and appeal to a wide audience, including men in this age group.
The script is penned by Moorhouse, Jenna Milly, and Ann Marie Allison.
Richard Barton Lewis from Southpaw Entertainment will produce ‘The Fabulous Four’ with Rosemary Blight from Goalpost Pictures. Executive producers include Ben Grant and Kylie du Fresne from Goalpost, Gabrielle Jerou-Tabak from Southpaw, and Andrew Karpen and Kent Sanderson from Bleecker Street. The deal was negotiated by Kent Sanderson, Miranda King, and Avy Eschenasy from Bleecker Street, along with CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group representing the filmmakers. Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales rights.
‘The Fabulous Four’ will be produced by Bleecker Street Films, and the release date is yet to be announced.
