‘The Accountant 2,’ starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, is officially moving forward and will begin filming in California this year. Amazon has seemingly acquired the rights to develop the sequel.
According to Variety, major projects benefiting from 2024 production tax incentives through California’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program include ‘The Accountant 2,’ now secured by Amazon MGM Studios.
Directed by Gavin O’Connor and written by Bill Dubuque, ‘The Accountant 2’ will be produced by Mark Williams and Lynette Howell Taylor.

According to the Production List, filming for ‘The Accountant 2’ is set to commence on March 15, 2024. The original film starred Ben Affleck as the titular character, a math savant with high-functioning autism who works as a forensic accountant, uncovering financial irregularities for criminal organizations while being pursued by law enforcement.
The Accountant,’ released in October 2016 and directed by O’Connor, stars Affleck, Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow. The film has grossed $155 million worldwide.
The story follows Christian Wolff (Affleck), a highly functioning autistic man who freelances as an accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. In addition to his legitimate work, Wolff takes on high-risk assignments to uncook the books of various criminal enterprises, all while being pursued by the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, led by Ray King (Simmons). As Wolff delves deeper into his latest assignment, he uncovers a conspiracy threatening his life.
As of now, there is no set release date for ‘The Accountant 2.’
