Capstone Studios is making two sequels for the survival thriller ‘Fall,’ as it’s turning into a franchise. The movie, released on August 12, 2022, by Lionsgate Films, was a big success, earning $21 million worldwide on a $3 million budget.
Scott Mann, the original movie’s director, and co-writer, will produce both sequels and direct the third film. Mark Lane and James Harris from Tea Shop Productions, Christian Mercuri from Capstone, and David Haring will produce the new films. Dan Asma, John Long, and Roman Viaris are the executive producers.
Fall 2 and Fall 3 will feature the return of characters from the original film and will also introduce new ones. The first movie followed two best friends, Becky Connor, and Shiloh Hunter, played by Grace Caroline Currey and Virginia Gardner, who scale a 2,000-foot abandoned radio tower and become stranded with no way down. Their survival skills and nerves are challenged as they contend with the elements, a scarcity of supplies, and dizzying heights.
Capstone CEO Mercuri will finance both sequels, with shooting for ‘Fall 2’ starting in June 2024.
In a statement, Mercuri said, “These two new sequels are wonderful opportunities to expand on the original. We want to now take the franchise even further as we assemble the very best team and ideas to ensure the next hair-raising, death-defying, and pulse-pounding film for global audiences.”
Mann said, “I am thrilled to be continuing the Fall journey and taking it to the next level.” Mann added, “We’ve got a really special cinematic experience planned and I’m immensely grateful to my fellow producers for backing the vision. I’m also excited to be working with new collaborators as well as reuniting with the original gang, and obviously can’t wait to be back filming thousands of feet up.”
Capstone Global will handle worldwide rights.
The release date for ‘Fall 2’ is yet to be announced (TBA).
