Marvel Studios has finally found the MCU’s Galactus.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ralph Ineson (‘The First Omen’ and ‘The Witch’) has been cast as Galactus, an intergalactic villain who consumes the life force of planets in Marvel’s upcoming ‘The Fantastic Four‘ movie. As previously reported, Antonio Banderas and Javier Bardem were considered for the role, but Ineson has now been finalized.
Directed by Matt Shakman, the original script for ‘Fantastic Four,’ written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, has undergone a rewrite by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. The filming start date for ‘Fantastic Four’ is now set for Q3 2024.
Ineson will join the cast alongside Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Richards’ friend with body issues, Ben Grimm/The Thing. Julia Garner is set to portray a female Silver Surfer, with Paul Walter Hauser and John Malkovich in undisclosed roles. Additionally, characters yet to be cast include Mole Man and H.E.R.B.I.E.
As per the rumored plot details, the film opens in 1963 on Earth, where a world that was once perfect is now slowly dying due to incursions across the multiverse. Reed Richards (Pascal) has been trying to restructure his world for weeks, but theirs has just too many incursions. Reed begins to explain to his family what’s going on before studying time travel and quickly making a time machine with H.E.R.B.I.E. While Johnny (Quinn) goofs around with Ben (Moss-Bachrach) in the lab, Sue (Kirby) then gets upset with Reed because she thinks he isn’t doing enough to save their reality until a loud signal goes off on the computer warning about the coming of Galactus. The Fab Four will then have a standoff with the planet eater for the first time before escaping their universe and time-traveling to Earth-616.
Ineson, known for his roles in franchises like ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘Star Wars,’ previously appeared in the MCU in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ Now, he returns to portray Galactus.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin.
‘Fantastic Four’ hits theaters on July 25, 2025.
