The first look at Emerald Fennell‘s ‘Saltburn‘ has been revealed. The film is described as “a wicked tale of privilege and desire.” Struggling to find his place at Oxford University, Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) finds himself drawn to the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to his eccentric family’s estate, for a summer never to be forgotten. What is the Plot of Saltburn?
Set in the mid-2000s and shot across the U.K., the film, written by Fennell, follows student Oliver Quick (Keoghan), who is struggling to find his place at Oxford University and finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Elordi), who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for an unforgettable summer.
Saltburn also stars Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant as Sir James, Alison Oliver as Venetia, Archie Madekwe as Farleigh, Carey Mulligan, Paul Rhys as Duncan, Lolly Adefope as Lady Daphne, Ewan Mitchell, and Reece Shearsmith.
The film is written and directed by Emerald Fennell, who also produces with Josey McNamara, Tom Ackerley, and “Barbie” star Margot Robbie, whose film grosses $1 billion worldwide.
In a statement, Fennell said, “I’m honored that our film is able to open this year’s BFI London Film Festival. It is a festival that inspired me so much growing up, one that I followed excitedly from my bedroom on the other side of London.” He added, “It feels extra-special that ‘Saltburn,’ this very British tale of excess, is able to make its international debut at the wonderful BFI.“
‘Saltburn’ will have its world premiere at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 4, 2023, at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London, with Simultaneous Screenings Across the U.K., and an expected North American World Premiere.
When will ‘Saltburn’ be released in theaters?
‘Saltburn’ will be released in a limited theatrical release on November 24, 2023, before expanding wide on December 1, 2023, by Amazon Studios and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
