Apple Original Films has revealed the first look at ‘Fingernails,’ starring Jessie Buckley, Jeremy Allen White, and Riz Ahmed. The story is about Anna (Buckley) who starts working at an institute that assesses the authenticity of romance between couples. Watch the teaser below.
The film was both written and directed by Christos Nikou. Luke Wilson plays the role of Duncan, and Annie Murphy and Nina Kiri also star in the movie. The production is a collaborative effort involving Coco Francini, Andrew Upton, Cate Blanchett, Lucas Wiesendanger, and Christos Nikou.
In an interview with IndieWire, director Christos Nikou explained why he removed cell phones from the movie. He believed their absence made a stronger impact and disliked using them on screen. The film’s message is about everything being in our minds. Nikou said, “It would have been much easier, for example, if we would just have everybody with cell phones in order to make that comment, but I believe it’s much stronger with the absence of technology. At the same time, I’m not a big fan, as you said, of movies that use cell phones on their screens, and that’s a way that people communicate. What we are trying to say with the movie is that everything is in our mind.”
