HBO has revealed the first look at the next ‘Game of Thrones‘ spin-off series, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.’ The image shows Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, set a century before Game of Thrones and 72 years after House of the Dragon. The story focuses on Duncan and Egg during the time when the Targaryen clan still held the Iron Throne.
Filming is currently happening in Belfast. On the X platform, the official Game of Thrones account shared the first look and provided updates about the filming. They wrote, “Set a century before Game of Thrones, the new HBO Original drama series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is now in production. Coming soon to Max.”
The show, created by George R.R. Martin, is based on his novel “Tales of Dunk and Egg.” It stars Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, a puppeteer, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, a knight known as the Laughing Storm, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen.
Here’s the synopsis for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms:
A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
Martin and Ira Parker serve as writers and executive producers on the show. Also, Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw are also executive producers.
It is confirmed that Harris is directing the first three episodes, and Sarah Adina Smith will direct the remaining three. The first season will consist of six episodes.
I can also confirm that HBO is developing a new ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off series titled ‘Aegon’s Conquest,’ written by Mattson Tomlin (‘The Batman’). This series will follow the Targaryens’ bloody and brutal conquest of Westeros.
‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ will premiere on HBO and Max in 2025.
