In The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Shalla-Bal is an alien–human hybrid from a planet known as Zenn-La, and she has a daughter.

After living a peaceful life on her homeworld, Galactus appears and threatens to destroy it. To save her planet from annihilation, she agrees to become his herald, becoming the Silver Surfer. She possesses cosmic powers that allow her to breathe in space and is bilingual—speaking both her native language and English.
What happens to Shalla-Bal at the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps?
At the end of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Shalla-Bal returns to Earth with Galactus, who begins destroying New York City. She soon learns that he is after Franklin Richards, which shocks her—she believes it is wrong to harm a child and feels that no mother should endure the same pain she suffered when separated from her own daughter.
When Johnny tells Reed to let Franklin know his uncle loves him, Shalla-Bal appears and knocks the Human Torch to the ground to ensure Franklin’s safety. She then sends Galactus through the wormhole—taking herself with him—leaving her ultimate fate unknown.
