Tom Holland is back in production for Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Basingstoke, England.

In a big surprise, Michael Mando has been spotted on the set alongside Holland. Mando is returning as Mac Gargan/Scorpion in the movie.

In the image, Mando’s Scorpion is seen trying to escape from prison and enter a helicopter. In previous scenes filmed, a tank that Spider-Man tried to stop from entering the prison is shown exploding.
It has already been reported by an insider that a fight scene between Scorpion and Spider-Man will take place soon. In addition, Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/Vulture will return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the world has forgotten his name, Peter Parker (Holland) begins a new chapter in his life — balancing college classes, part-time work, and his responsibility as New York’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. But when a mysterious force begins to unravel the city from the inside out, Peter finds himself caught between powerful enemies, old legacies, and unexpected allies. As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
In a recent interview with Collider, Marvel President Kevin Feige revealed that Peter Parker will be dealing with “street-level crime” in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Feige said, “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home — that, for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing, for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of a better term — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events.”
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
