Universal and Blumhouse’s ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,’ a horror sequel set in the spooky Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, has a confirmed release date. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 5, 2025.
Additionally, Universal has shifted the release dates for two anticipated sequels: ‘M3GAN 2.0‘ moved from May 16, 2025, to June 27, 2025, and ‘The Black Phone 2‘ moved from June 27, 2025, to October 17, 2025.
‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ is directed by Emma Tammi, the film is based on the video game series by Scott Cawthon. Starring Josh Hutcherson, the story follows a troubled security guard discovering that the animatronic mascots in an abandoned pizzeria are possessed by homicidal children. The film has grossed $294 million, becoming Blumhouse’s highest-grossing worldwide.
‘M3GAN,’ short for Model 3 Generative Android, was a sleeper hit for Blumhouse, earning $180 million globally in 2022. ‘M3GAN 2.0’ Plot details haven’t been revealed, but Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will reprise their roles.
‘The Black Phone 2,’ serves as a sequel to the 2022 horror hit ‘The Black Phone,’ directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Blumhouse. The original film, grossing over $160 million worldwide, sets the stage for the sequel. Based on a short story by Joe Hill, ‘The Black Phone’ followed Finney, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy who was abducted by a sadistic killer played by Ethan Hawke. Trapped in a soundproof basement, a disconnected phone on the wall starts ringing, allowing Finney, portrayed by Mason Thames, to hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. They are determined to prevent what happened to them from happening to Finney.
The studio also announced other Blumhouse titles for release: ‘The Woman in the Yard‘ on March 28, 2025, and ‘Drop‘ on April 11, 2025.
‘The Woman in the Yard’ stars Danielle Deadwyler, Russell Hornsby, Okwui Okpokwasili, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (‘Black Adam’) and written by Sam Stefanak, the plot details are currently undisclosed.
‘Drop,’ described as a “blood-chilling, fast-paced thriller,” is produced by Michael Bay and Blumhouse founder Jason Blum. Directed by Christopher Landon (‘Freaky’), starring Meghann Fahy, Brandon Sklenar, Violett Beane, Jacob Robinson, and Ed Weeks.
