HBO’s ‘The Last of Us‘ Season 2 development is currently on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Before the strike began, Florence Pugh was the first choice for the role of Abby Anderson in Season 2. Now, it’s almost confirmed that Shannon Berry will play Abby.
Florence Pugh’s Physical and Acting Attributes Make Her a Strong Contender for Abby’s Role in ‘The Last of Us’
According to a source from the casting team, Florence Pugh’s appearance closely matches Abby’s character, given her muscular arms and skill set. This similarity is further evident in her role as Yelena Belova in the MCU, where her skills have been widely praised. Pugh could be a good choice to play Abby due to her acting skills and ability to portray complex characters.
According to showrunner Craig Mazin, Abby appears to have been cast for ‘The Last of Us’ season 2. Mazin said, “Look, Abby was the first role that we wanted to tackle. We’ve got a pretty good track record of making major cast announcements and people going “Really?” which will probably continue. So people may disagree, but I think we got it right so far and the audience seems to feel we got it right and the Academy seems to feel we got it right.” Mazin confirms that ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 will be divided into two seasons. He said, “The show won’t conclude with Season 2 unless viewers don’t watch it and it gets canceled.“
Abby Anderson is a member of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF), a faction that arose in the post-apocalyptic world following a devastating fungal infection. This infection led to the emergence of hostile creatures known as “infected.” Abby’s father, who was a doctor, was killed by Joel Miller, the main character from the first game. This act was performed to save Ellie, another significant character who possesses immunity to the infection
