George Miller is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to direct a new film with Chris Hemsworth. According to Miller, he wants to collaborate with Hemsworth on future projects, possibly including Marvel’s Thor 5. As of now, the film has no director attached.
Taika Waititi, who directed Thor: Ragnarok (2017) and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), was reported to be directing the fifth Thor movie. However, he has reportedly been fired by Marvel Studios due to the perceived failure of ‘Love and Thunder.’ The studio is currently searching for a new director to lead the project. Recently, ‘The Creator’ director Gareth Edwards has expressed interest in directing Thor 5.
Will George Miller Direct Thor 5?
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Miller, who recently worked with Hemsworth on ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga‘ alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, addressed the idea of working with Hemsworth on Thor 5.
Miller said, “I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He’s a wonderful actor. He’s got the full range of all the skills. Miller added, “I mean, you’ve got to be athletic, physically. But, you also have gotta be athletic emotionally and intellectually to take on these very, ultimately fairly complex, any role really. So, I was very lucky with all my cast and particularly in the way that Anya and Chris matched each other. Particularly towards the end of the month.”
If production begins in late 2024, we can expect a release in 2026 for ‘Thor 5.’ This movie will be part of Marvel Phase 7 and is expected to be released before ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’
What is the Rumored Plot of Thor 5?
According to the rumored plot, Thor 5 focuses on Thor and Hercules battle. it will be a continuation of Thor: Love and Thunder. The mid-credit of Love and Thunder gives a first look at Hercules, portrayed by Brett Goldstein. Zeus orders Hercules to kill Thor. In Marvel comics, One of the more recent fights between the two muscular gods didn’t take place in Thor’s series, but in Herc’s book, The Incredible Hercules. This was during the brief period when Zeus’ son took over The Incredible Hulk comic from Big Green. It’s another light-hearted story, where we saw Herc use Thor’s armor to masquerade as the Son of Odin. He even borrowed his father’s lightning bolts to sell the idea that he was now the God of Thunder. But when the real Thor found out, he dressed up as Herc, and the pair went toe-to-toe. It was “Hercuthor” vs. “Thorcules.” And it was as delightfully ridiculous as it sounded.
