The Top Gun star had a filming start date confirmed.
According to Glen Powell, who appeared in the Top Gun sequel ‘Maverick,’ he confirms that he will return for ‘Top Gun 3‘ and that a start date has been set for the project.
In a recent interview with the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast alongside his ‘Twisters’ co-star Daisy Edgar-Jones, Powell was asked about his upcoming project ‘Top Gun 3,’ which was recently greenlit by Paramount. He said, “I mean, I have a date.” Powell responded “Absolutely not” when asked if he could share any more ‘Top Gun 3’ details.
As reported, Maverick’s co-writer Ehren Kruger is working on a new installment script. Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Powell, and director Joseph Kosinski are set to return, as confirmed by Puck.
Back in January 2024, during the Sundance Film Festival at the screening of Hit Man, Powell spoke to Variety about the development of the third Top Gun movie.
Powell said, “People looked at me like I knew what was going on.” Powell added, “There is going to be some fun stuff being announced soon…but it was confidential to me. I talk to [Joseph] Kosinski, Cruise, and Jerry [Bruckheimer] all the time. There is stuff happening and it sounds very exciting. I don’t know when I’ll be going back…I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future.”
In ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, after more than 30 years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. While training a detachment of graduates for a special assignment, Maverick must confront the ghosts of his past and his deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who choose to fly it.
‘Top Gun 3’ currently has no release date from Paramount Pictures.
