Greta Gerwig‘s The Chronicles of Narnia film, based on The Magician’s Nephew, has officially begun filming in London.
Scenes were filmed on public roads in the City of London, near Cornhill and the Royal Exchange. Set in 1950s Britain, the production appears to have cast unknown actors as the two leads, Digory and Polly. See the images below.

Based on the prequel novel The Magician’s Nephew, the story follows young Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer as they discover a multiverse of magical worlds, including the birth of Narnia and the origin of the White Witch.

Gerwig has written the script and is directing the feature for Netflix. The film adapts the sixth novel in C.S. Lewis’ series, serving as a prequel to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

In the film, Daniel Craig is reportedly playing Uncle Andrew, Emma Mackey will portray the White Witch, Meryl Streep is set to voice Aslan, the King of Kings, and Carey Mulligan will play Digory’s sick mother.
First published in 1955, The Magician’s Nephew explores the origins of Narnia, Aslan, the White Witch, and the mystical wardrobe that later plays a central role in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The story follows young Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, who stumble upon a mysterious set of magic rings—created by Digory’s uncle—that transport them to the Wood Between the Worlds, a realm of infinite possibilities where they inadvertently awaken Jadis, the future White Witch, from the dying world of Charn.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will mark the fourth live-action adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia series. Walden Media previously brought the first three novels — The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Prince Caspian (2008), and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010) — to the big screen as a commercially successful trilogy. These films centered on the Pevensie siblings, played by William Moseley (Peter), Anna Popplewell (Susan), Skandar Keynes (Edmund), and Georgie Henley (Lucy).
The film is produced by Mark Gordon, Amy Pascal, and Vincent Sieber.
The film is scheduled to release in theaters on November 26, 2026, exclusively on IMAX screens, followed by a streaming debut on Netflix on December 25, 2026.
