The next “Game of Thrones” prequel series, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” has been officially announced by HBO, along with the lead cast and plot synopsis.
On Twitter (X), Max revealed that Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell have been cast as Dunk and Egg in the “Game of Thrones” spin-off “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight.”
What is the Plot of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”?
A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
Back in February 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said, “[Creator and executive producer] George R.R. Martin is in pre-production for the new spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will premiere in late 2025 on Max.”
Martin and Ira Parker serve as writers and executive producers on the show. Also, Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw are also executive producers.
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” is the second “Game of Thrones” prequel to be greenlit. Following the success of “House of the Dragon,” which premiered in 2022 and season 2 will premiere on June 16, the new series takes place roughly 100 years after its events.
HBO is also developing a new ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off series titled ‘Aegon’s Conquest‘ from writer Mattson Tomlin (‘The Batman’), which follows the Targaryen’s bloody and brutal conquest of Westeros.
What is the Release Date for “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”?
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” is set to premiere on Max in 2025.
