Sony Pictures has released the first horrifying trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer, the direct sequel to the 1997 film of the same name and 1998’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Watch the trailer below.
What is the Plot of I Know What You Did Last Summer?
When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: someone knows what they did last summer…and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sam Lansky, based on an initial draft by Leah McKendrick.
The film stars Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Ray Bronson, Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, and Gabbriette Bechtel.
The film is produced by Neal H. Moritz, with Columbia Pictures and Original Film serving as the production companies.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 18, 2025, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
