Ryan Reynolds shared the debut trailer for John Krasinski‘s ‘IF,’ featuring Reynolds, Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, and Louis Gossett Jr., with the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Steve Carell. You can watch the trailer below.
What is the Plot of ‘IF’?
‘IF’ stands for “Imaginary Friends,” a new fantasy comedy where a young girl discovers her ability to see the abandoned imaginary friends of children who once relied on them.
‘IF’ marks a reunion for Krasinski and Carell, who previously starred together in ‘The Office.’ This collaboration is their first since the series concluded in 2013.
In an interview with Collider, Krasinski said, “‘IF’ is a movie that I made for my kids because I don’t think they’re allowed to see ‘A Quiet Place’; Emily [Blunt] calls it PG-40, ‘You’ll get to see it when you’re 40!’ So I had to make a movie they could see, and I’m excited about it.” Krasinski added, “For me, it was just about what if we could tell a story about these time capsules? Imaginary friends are adorable and all those things, but they were also time capsules of your hopes, dreams, and ambitions when you were the most fertile of a brain, and they never go away. I think we’re told that we’re adults instead of what if you realize that you never stopped being a kid.”
Produced by John Krasinski, Allyson Seeger, Andrew Form, and Ryan Reynolds. The film is a collaboration between Sunday Night Productions and Maximum Effort and is distributed by Paramount Pictures.
‘IF’ will hit theaters on May 17, 2024, by Paramount Pictures.
