In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast, Merced said that Dever and Bella Ramsey will win an Emmy for their performances in ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2.

Merced said, “Give her the damn Emmy! I’m so excited for people to see how well Bella and Kaitlyn did on this.”

Merced also mentioned something unusual, saying that Dever needed “extra security” during the filming of Season 2.

Merced said, “There are people that actually genuinely hate Abby, who is not a real person. Just a reminder, not a real person. And so Kaitlyn had to be extra secured by security when it came to the filming of this.” She added, “Kaitlyn is such a cool person who just does not get phased by things.”

HBO recently dropped the first look glimpse of Season 2. The footage shows Pedro Pascal and Ramsey returning as Joel and Ellie, with the first look at Gabriel Luna as Tommy, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, Isabela Merced as Dina, Dever as Abby, and Catherine O’Hara.

The second season, based on the 2020 game The Last of Us Part II developed by Naughty Dog, follows Joel (Pascal) and Ellie (Ramsey) in the aftermath of the first season and introduces Abby (Kaitlyn Dever). Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann serve as showrunners.

In Season 2, Pascal stars as Joel Miller, with Ramsey as Ellie, Luna as Tommy, Rutina Wesley as Maria, Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Merced as Dina, Danny Ramirez as Manny, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, O’Hara in an undisclosed guest role, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac Dixon.

Mazin has confirmed that ‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 will be divided into two seasons. He said, “The show won’t conclude with Season 2 unless viewers don’t watch it and it gets canceled.”

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 will contain 7 episodes and premiere on HBO in early 2025.
