Sony Pictures released the new trailer for Justin Baldoni‘s ‘It Ends with Us,’ starring Blake Lively and Baldoni. The 1-minute trailer is romantic and special, featuring Ethel Cain’s song “Strangers.” You can watch it above.
The romantic feature is based on the 2016 novel of the same name by Colleen Hoover, with the script penned by Christy Hall.
It Ends with Us, the first Colleen Hoover novel adapted for the big screen, tells the compelling story of Lily Bloom (Lively), a woman who overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life in Boston and chase a lifelong dream of opening her own business. A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two fall deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her strength to make an impossible choice for her future.
Speaking to People, Lively said, “Lily resonated with an enormous amount of people, as the success of the book made clear.” Lively added, “Stepping into a character who’s had such a meaningful impact is an honor to take on. I loved Lily. And I hope that love is felt by those who care about her like I do, and also those who are getting to know her for the first time in this film.”
In a recent interview with EW, Hoover said, “Back when I wrote It Ends With Us, the new adult [genre] was very popular. Hoover added, “You were writing college-age characters. That’s what I was contracted to do. I made Lily very young. I didn’t know that neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There’s not a 20-something neurosurgeon. As I started making this movie, I’m like, we need to age them, because I messed up. So that’s my fault.”
The film is produced by Alex Saks, Jamey Heath, and Hall, with Steve Sarowitz, Baldoni, Andrew Calof, Lively, Andrea Ajemian, and Colleen Hoover serving as executive producers. Production companies involved include Columbia Pictures, Wayfarer Studios, and Saks Picture Company.
‘It Ends with Us’ is scheduled to hit theaters on August 9, 2024, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
