James Cameron has denied rumors about him making a film about the OceanGate submersible implosion.
In a statement on Twitter, Cameron said, “I don’t usually respond to offensive rumors in the media, but I feel the need to clarify this. I am not in talks about an OceanGate film, and I will never be.“
Speaking to ABC News, Cameron described the ‘catastrophic implosion’ of the Titan submersible: “I’m struck by the similarity of the Titanic disaster itself, where the captain was repeatedly warned about ice ahead of his ship and yet he steamed at full speed into an ice field.”
On 18 June 2023, the OceanGate submersible Titan imploded during a dive into the Titanic wreck. All five occupants, including OceanGate’s CEO and billionaire businessmen, tragically lost their lives.
