A special sneak preview of DC Studios‘ Superman movie is coming to The Puppy Bowl XXI.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, James Gunn will reveal the preview on February 9, 2025. Warner Bros. Discovery is using The Puppy Bowl to promote the new Superman film.
Gunn will appear with his dog, Ozu, who inspired the character Krypto, the superdog in the movie. He will share the sneak preview and a special message with viewers.
One of the puppies in the game will also win the “Krypto Super Play” award, connecting the event to the movie.
Howard Lee, chief creative officer of U.S. networks and president of Discovery Networks said, “Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl serves as an annual pop culture programming event that continues to expand in reach, awareness and of course, puppies, every year.” Lee added, “Win or lose, Puppy Bowl XXI will have the cutest players in the game on Sunday, February 9 and will inspire families across the country to adopt a new furry friend.”
Recently, the first trailer for Superman was released. Within the first 24 hours, the trailer reached 22.5 million views on the DC YouTube channel, making it the most-watched Warner Bros. and DC trailer ever in its first 24 hours.
The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
The film is written and directed by Gunn and is the first film of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. Gunn also produced the film with Peter Safran under DC Studios.
