Warner Bros. Pictures has released the new trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux, starring Joaquin Phoenix once again in his Oscar-winning dual role as Arthur Fleck/Joker and Oscar-winner Lady Gaga. The new trailer features more musical elements, and Gaga’s voice is truly stunning. The film will premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival.
In ‘Joker: Folie À Deux,’ Arthur Fleck Phoenix (Phoenix) is institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.
In the trailer, Joker says, “I got this sneaking suspicion, that we’re not giving the people what they want.” Harley Quinn replies, “It’s okay, baby. Let’s give the people what they want.”
The film also stars Oscar nominees Brendan Gleeson (‘The Banshees of Inisherin’) and Catherine Keener (‘Get Out,’ ‘Capote’), alongside Zazie Beetz, reprising her role from ‘Joker.’
Speaking to Access Hollywood, Gaga revealed that her version of Harley Quinn is very different from the comic book, as she did not draw inspiration from any iteration of Margot Robbie‘s portrayal or the animated shows’ Harley Quinn.
Gaga said, “You know my version of Harley is mine and it’s very authentic to this movie and these characters.” She added, “I’ve never done anything like I’ve done in this movie before, so it’s all going to be completely brand new and really fun,” she added.
From acclaimed writer/director/producer Todd Phillips comes ‘Joker: Folie À Deux,’ from a screenplay by fellow Oscar nominee Scott Silver & Phillips, based on characters from DC. Phillips produced the film, Oscar nominee Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Joseph Garner. Lady Gaga served as music consultant. The film’s executive producers are Michael E. Uslan, Georgia Kacandes, Silver, Mark Friedberg, and Jason Ruder.
Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios produce the film in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, Bron Creative, and Joint Effort.
