Universal Pictures has released the first official trailer for Gareth Edwards‘ Jurassic World: Rebirth, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali. This action-packed new chapter follows an extraction team racing to the most dangerous place on Earth—an island research facility from the original Jurassic Park, now inhabited by the worst of the worst that were left behind. Watch the trailer above.
Directed by Edwards from a script by Jurassic Park‘s original screenwriter, David Koepp, Jurassic World: Rebirth is based on characters created by Michael Crichton.
The story follows members of a recovery team—led by Johansson, Ali, and Bailey—as they venture to an island near the equator that once housed the first Jurassic Park‘s research lab. The team is on a mission to retrieve genetic material that could lead to a groundbreaking medical discovery for humanity. However, three decades later, the mistakes made at that ruined facility have not disappeared—they’ve endured and only grown bigger.
What is the Plot of Jurassic World: Rebirth?
Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has become largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those that remain exist in isolated equatorial environments, where the climate resembles the one in which they once thrived. Within this tropical biosphere, three colossal creatures—dominating land, sea, and air—hold, in their DNA, the key to a groundbreaking drug with life-saving benefits for humankind.
Johansson stars as Zora Bennett, a highly skilled covert operations expert contracted to lead a top-secret mission to secure the genetic material. However, when Zora’s operation collides with a civilian family whose boating expedition is capsized by marauding aquatic dinosaurs, they all become stranded on a forbidden island—once home to a secret Jurassic Park research facility. There, amidst a landscape teeming with vastly different dinosaur species, they uncover a shocking and sinister secret that has remained hidden for decades.
Ali plays Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s most trusted team member. Critics’ Choice and Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey (Wicked, Bridgerton) stars as paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis. Emmy nominee Rupert Friend (Homeland, Obi-Wan Kenobi) appears as Big Pharma representative Martin Krebs, while Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer, Murder on the Orient Express) portrays Reuben Delgado, the father of the shipwrecked civilian family.
The film also stars Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs. Lopez) as Reuben’s family. The film also features, as members of Zora and Krebs’ crews, Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool).
The film is produced by Oscar nominee Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, both longtime Jurassic franchise producers and of this summer’s blockbuster, Twisters. The film is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer.
Jurassic World: Rebirth hits theaters on July 2, 2025, by Universal Pictures.
