Keanu Reeves revealed that he always wanted to play Marvel’s Wolverine character.
On Reddit (u/lionsgate), Keanu Reeves appeared on a live chat as part of the John Wick: Chapter 4 promotion, and when a fan asked about a role in Reeves’ career that he regretted turning down, Reeves replied, “…No. But I did always want to play Wolverine.”
Comment from discussion Lionsgate’s comment from discussion “Hi, I’m Keanu Reeves, AMA”.
However, I don’t think Marvel will consider Reeves to play Wolverine now. Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in the forthcoming Deadpool 3. In the X-Men film series, Jackman portrayed the character superbly.
A fan (Leroy Wankins) asked Reeves what he would do if acting weren’t his career. Reeves replied, “Well when I was a kid, I always said I wanted to be a race car driver, a conductor, or an astrophysicist. Today, let’s conduct some music.”
John Wick: Chapter 4 is directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. The film also stars Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Scott Adkins, Clancy Brown, Natalia Tena, Marko Zaror, and Ian McShane.
John Wick: Chapter 4 will hit theaters on March 24, 2023.
