Lee Isaac Chung‘s ‘Twisters,’ starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, debuts with $80.5M at the domestic box office across 4,151 locations. That’s a huge increase from the initial industry projections of $40M to $50M. According to The Numbers, the film’s international box office is currently $11M, bringing its worldwide gross to $91M.
As per reports, ‘Twisters’ scores the biggest opening weekend for a disaster film ever, surpassing ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ (2004). It is the second biggest opening for a live-action film this year and is only $2M behind the opening of ‘Oppenheimer‘.
Is ‘Twisters’ Worth Watching?
Yes! ‘Twisters’ is a fine piece and a refreshing watch. Most of the scenes feature Edgar-Jones and Powell chasing tornadoes. Some elements are scary, which is important for a disaster film, but it’s all part of the experience. Make sure you’re seated with your popcorn. The film received a 7.1/10 on IMDb, 77% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 66% on Metacritic.
