Margot Robbie (Barbie, Babylon) and Jacob Elordi (Priscilla, Saltburn) are set to star in Emerald Fennell‘s upcoming Wuthering Heights adaptation, based on the iconic romance novel by Emily Brontë. LuckyChap will produce the film.
Emerald Fennell will write, direct, and produce the film. In Wuthering Heights, Robbie will portray Catherine Earnshaw, while Elordi will play Heathcliff. The film is currently in pre-production and is set to begin filming in the UK in 2025.
Emily Brontë’s original novel—first published in 1847—is widely regarded as one of the great works of literature. The story centers around two families—the Earnshaws and the Lintons—and the turbulent relationship they share with the Earnshaws’ foster son, Heathcliff.
Following her breakout directing debut with Promising Young Woman, Wuthering Heights marks the third collaboration between LuckyChap and Fennell, following Saltburn and Promising Young Woman, the latter of which won Fennell an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
Robbie recently starred in and produced Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which grossed $1.4 billion worldwide and earned eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. She will next be seen starring in Kogonada’s A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, set to be released on May 9, 2025.
Elordi and Fennell are reuniting with Wuthering Heights, following Saltburn. Elordi is set to star in The Narrow Road to the Deep North, directed by Justin Kurzell. He will also star in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
