Demands for Evidence: Allegations Against Hollywood Actor Require Substantiation
For those who make an allegation against a Hollywood actor, please provide evidence. Most recently, saxophonist María Elena Ríos has been accused of sexual assault on Marvel star Tenoch Huerta, calling him a “sexual predator.”
On Twitter, a user Ernesto Blanco (@ernestock1) reached out to María Elena Ríos, asking her to provide evidence of the sexual assault allegations against Tenoch Huerta. In response, Ríos chose to block the user. The user stated their right to reserve judgment and mentioned the prevalence of media persecution without evidence, leading to fallacies.
Blanco shared an image of Elena Ríos’s blocked account and wrote, “I sent a tweet to María Elena Ríos about Tenoch Huerta, telling her to show her evidence, since I have the right to reserve whether I believe her or not, it happens very often on social networks, media persecution without evidence and ends in fallacies, her response was to block me…”
Ríos has not provided specific details about what happened with Huerta, some internet users directly asked her if she had been sexually assaulted, to which she responded affirmatively and added that she was not the only woman.
María Elena Ríos is a saxophonist and activist. She gained public attention in Mexico after surviving an attempted femicide in which she was attacked with acid. Ríos has been vocal about her experience and has become an advocate for survivors of gender-based violence. She has also been involved in various social justice causes and has used her platform to speak out against injustice.
