Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could be joining the MCU soon as a supervillain.
According to scooper and insider @MyTimeToShineH, Marvel Studios is interested in casting Johnson as Apocalypse in the MCU. Talks are currently ongoing, and Johnson may give a signal soon. If he signs on for the role, he could appear as Apocalypse in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot.

In Marvel Comics, Apocalypse—originally named En Sabah Nur—is one of the most powerful and ancient mutants. He first appeared in X-Factor #5 (1986).
Born in ancient Egypt, he has lived for thousands of years—using alien Celestial technology to enhance his abilities. He believes only the strongest should rule, often manipulating or challenging mutants to prove their worth.

Apocalypse appeared in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), portrayed by Oscar Isaac. While the film received a mixed response overall, Isaac’s performance as Apocalypse was praised.
Johnson played Black Adam in the 2022 DC Extended Universe film. However, after the DCEU was scrapped, he is no longer portraying Teth-Adam/Black Adam.
Recently, Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider reported that the X-Men reboot film is expected to begin filming next year, with a targeted release in 2027. An official casting announcement and director reveal from the studio are expected in the coming months.
Recently, Marvel President Kevin Feige appeared virtually during the Disney APAC Content Showcase and spoke about the future of the X-Men, calling their return to Marvel Studios “a dream come true.”
Feige said, “I think you will see that continue in our next few movies with some X-Men players that you might recognize.” He added, “Right after that, the whole story of Secret Wars really leads us into a new age of mutants and of the X-Men. Again, [it’s] one of those dreams come true. We finally have the X-Men back.”
Additionally, the X-Men reboot will not be an origin story and will be released after Avengers: Secret Wars.
