Marvel Studios is casting an Asian actor for a major role in Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth installment in the Marvel/Sony Spider-Man movie series.
During CinemaCon 2025, Sony Pictures announced the title and revealed the first-look logo for the new Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is set to hit theaters in July 2026.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is reportedly casting a 30–50-year-old Asian actor for a major role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It may be that we’ll see Martin Li/Mr. Negative in this film; he appears in the same comic as Brand New Day.
In the CinemaCon 2025 panel, Holland said in a video message that Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start.
Holland said, “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”

Here’s the plot details Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
Following the events of Avengers: Doomsday, Peter Parker is determined to lead a normal life and focus on college, stepping back from his responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, peace is short-lived when a deadly new threat emerges, endangering his friends and forcing Peter to reconsider his promise. With stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves.
The filming is scheduled to begin in June 2025 in the United Kingdom and is expected to wrap in October 2025. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, it will be the fourth installment of the Spider-Man series. The film has a production budget of $200 million.
Director Cretton said, “I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world,” he hinted. “We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”
According to reports, Sadie Sink, who recently joined the cast of Spider-Man 4 in a mystery role, will have a “mysterious past.” Her character is reportedly described as a “sharp and free-spirited woman who is strong-willed, intelligent, and not easily intimidated.”
The film is be produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
