Marvel Studios reportedly wants Gwyneth Paltrow to reprise her role as Pepper Potts in upcoming ‘Avengers’ films.
Is Gwyneth Paltrow Expected to Return as Pepper Potts in Future Avengers Films?
According to insider Daniel Richtman’s latest Patreon post, Marvel reportedly wants Gwyneth Paltrow back as Pepper Potts in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The studio is in talks with the star to sign a new deal.
Paltrow last appeared in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. On The Goop Podcast, she mentioned that while she thinks she is ‘done’ with the MCU, she added, ‘I didn’t die, so they can always ask me [back].’ Paltrow even hinted that Robert Downey Jr. might be the only person who could convince her to return to acting ‘to some degree.’
On Instagram, when Downey Jr. was announced to be returning to the MCU, Paltrow reacted humorously to the news, asking, ‘I don’t get it, are you a baddie now?’
Filming for Avengers: Doomsday is set to begin in March 2025, with the Russo Brothers directing and Stephen McFeely writing the script. Unusually for Marvel, the Russo Brothers will also produce both films through their AGBO banner, as Marvel generally prefers to keep production in-house.
As reported, Avengers: Doomsday will be a multiverse film—because it’s the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. The plot of Avengers: Doomsday follows Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place—Battleworld—under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.
Downey Jr., who plays the main antagonist Doctor Doom, will film for about 3 months, while the main cast, including Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, and others, will film for about a month. The supporting cast will film for 1-2 weeks. The entire production is expected to take around 5 months.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 7, 2027.
