Marvel Studios is currently stuck in negotiations over their latest deal with Sony Pictures.
Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man will appear in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday only if Marvel can secure an agreement with Sony.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, in a post on his Patreon, Marvel Studios reportedly wants Holland’s Spider-Man to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. However, the studio still hasn’t closed a deal with Sony.
Marvel’s current proposal to Sony includes having Holland’s Spider-Man appear in more MCU films, including Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige would remain in charge of the Spider-Man films. Sony has not accepted the deal yet. During CinemaCon 2025, Sony announced the title of their next Spider-Man movie: Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Is there any chance Sony would reject Spider-Man’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday?

We can confirm that there is no way Sony would turn down Spider-Man’s appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, as it would not only generate more hype but also boost box office revenue for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will begin filming in August 2025 in the United Kingdom. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) will direct the film, with a “storyline that could bridge the street-level story and the multiverse.” The script is penned by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and the production budget is $200 million.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows the events of Avengers: Doomsday. Peter Parker is determined to lead a normal life and focus on college, stepping back from his responsibilities as Spider-Man. However, peace is short-lived when a deadly new threat emerges, endangering his friends and forcing Peter to reconsider his promise. With the stakes higher than ever, Peter reluctantly returns to his Spider-Man identity and finds himself teaming up with an unlikely ally to protect those he loves.
The film stars Holland returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ Watson, and Sadie Sink and Liza Colón-Zayas in undisclosed roles. Additionally, Marvel Studios is casting for three new roles in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Two of these roles are for villains — one male and one female.
The film will be produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on May 1, 2026, and will be followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will arrive on July 31, 2026.
