Marvel’s Blade is rumored to have been canceled at Marvel Studios due to production delays. The film is not listed in the schedule until 2028.
Back in March 2025, we reported that Marvel President Kevin Feige and Mahershala Ali had finalized the script, penned by Michael Green and Eric Pearson. However, there was no confirmation from Marvel about the production details.

I also heard that they are actively searching for a director for the film. John Wick director Chad Stahelski is one of the directors being considered right now.
Blade was announced at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con, but it has had many problems. The movie changed directors several times, including Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange. The script was also rewritten many times. It was supposed to come out on November 7, 2025, but Disney removed it from the schedule, and it may not release this year.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ali said, he was “sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that.”
In the film, Ali plays the role of Eric Brooks/Blade, with Delroy Lindo as Deacon Frost, John West Jr. as DEE, Mia Goth, and Milan Ray. It has been reported that Goth is rumored to play Dracula’s daughter, Lilith Drake.
The film will be produced by Feige, Eric Hauserman Carroll, Louis D’Esposito, and Bassam Tariq.
Marvel will soon provide an update on the production status or cancellation news.
