Marvel Studios is getting complicated with the story of the upcoming ‘Blade‘ movie.
According to insider Daniel Richtman on his Patreon page, ‘Blade’ is reportedly going through another major rewrite, even after the major rewrite made by newly hired writer Michael Green. The studio is now searching for a new writer, but they found the story they want to tell.
‘Blade’ Update: New Filming Location Has Set
According to a confirmed source from Maxblizz, Marvel has set the filming date for ‘Blade,’ which will begin this fall in either Mexico or Brazil. Previously, it was slated to start in the UK.
The script, originally penned by Michael Starrbury and Nic Pizzolatto, was initially set in 1920. However, it has been revised by Green, who updated it to take place in the present day to align with ‘Midnight Sons.’
I can confirm that the film is still R-rated. Directed by Yann Demange and stars Mahershala Ali as Eric Brooks/Blade. The cast also includes Delroy Lindo as Deacon Frost, John West Jr. as DEE, Goth, and Milan Ray. We reported that Mia Goth is rumored to play Dracula’s daughter Lilith Drake.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ali said, he was “sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that.”
The film is a reboot of the franchise and the 36th film in the MCU. Produced by Kevin Feige, Eric Hauserman Carroll, Louis D’Esposito, and Bassam Tariq.
‘Blade’ is scheduled to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
