Note: This post contains spoilers for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps has undergone a lot of scene changes and has had some major scenes deleted.
On X, user @Cryptic4KQual shared the details of every change that was made and what didn’t make it into the final cut of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Originally, The Fantastic Four: First Steps opened with an ABC special celebrating “Fantastic Four Day.” The film did not begin with Reed and Sue learning about her pregnancy.

In the final cut, the Fantastic Four were present when the curtain lifted at the Ted Gilbert show. Originally, they had already disappeared by then to deal with the Red Ghost.

There was originally much more involving the Red Ghost and his apes. He set up diversions to keep the team away so that he could steal their ship, but Reed figured it out and hurried back to the Baxter Building, where he fought a group of the Super-Apes and then stopped the Red Ghost.
At one point, Sue received information that the Mole Man wanted to start a revolt in Subterranea, so she turned invisible and snuck up on him there to have a discussion.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps reportedly had several scenes set in the Baxter Building removed, taking place in the lab and control room, “most of which were just dialogue.”

The film was also reportedly going to feature a scene in which Ben Grimm finds H.E.R.B.I.E.’s mangled body in an alley. He then brings him home, shocking the rest of the team.

The Mole Man scene, where he visits the Baxter Building in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, was reportedly newly added and wasn’t part of the original cut of the film.

Additionally, the film was reportedly going to feature a scene in which Reed Richards visits the Red Ghost in prison and offers him a work-release program. The Red Ghost and his Super-Apes then begin building one of the teleportation bridges.

Finally, Galactus was originally supposed to briefly converse with the Fantastic Four in the final sequence when he realizes that they’ve laid out the teleportation bridge as bait for him.
Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm / Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm / Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm / The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet — and everyone on it — weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
The film also stars Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Sarah Niles. Directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps was released in the United States on July 25, 2025, as the first film of Phase Six in the MCU and has grossed $473 million worldwide.
