Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion‘ Episode 1, “Resurrection,” is now streaming on Disney+. The opening title sequence is simply stunning, with vibrant shades of green brought to life by AI.
Episode 1 opens with Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman) learning from Agent Prescod (Richard Dormer) that some Skrulls are invading the world. However, Prescod discovers that Everett is actually a shapeshifting green-skinned Skrull and attempts to stop him, resulting in Prescod being shot and killed. Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) begins to chase the Skrull but falls while jumping off a building. At that moment, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) arrives and realizes that Everett is a Skrull.
In the next scene, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) returns to Earth from space and goes home to have a conversation with Talos. Talos explains that the Skrulls are planning an invasion of the planet. Shocked by this revelation, Fury leaves his home. While walking, he is intercepted by Sonya Falsworth’s team, and he discusses the Skrulls with Sonya. She claims to have no knowledge of the situation, and Fury departs.
Meanwhile, Talos’ daughter, G’iah (Emilia Clarke), resides in an area inhabited by Skrulls. There are 500 Skrulls in that location, which was created by Skrull Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir). Gravik intends to invade the entire Earth and has developed machines capable of extracting memories from humans. Gravik becomes aware of Fury’s return to Earth. They are planning to attack using multiple explosions on unity day. G’iah tells this Talos that there are three bombs to be exploded.
At the end of Episode 1, Nick Fury, Talos, and Maria Hill try to stop the explosions but fail. Gravik shoots Maria, and she dies.
