The working title for Marvel’s upcoming ‘Fantastic Four‘ film is reportedly “Blue Moon,” as confirmed by The Cosmic Circus.
Reports indicate that working titles for upcoming MCU films serve as codenames to maintain secrecy during casting and deals, with some titles at Disney and Marvel paying homage to comic lore or serving as playful in-jokes.
Fantastic Four: Blue Moon and Marvel’s Cosmic History
In Marvel Comics, a long time ago, the Skrulls found the planet Hala with two races, the Kree and the Cotati. They used the Earth’s moon to test which race was better. The Kree built a city on the moon called the Blue Area, while the Cotati grew life on its surface. When the Skrulls chose the Cotati, the Kree rebelled, killing the Skrulls and Cotati, and leaving the Blue Area to decay. This event led to the Kree/Skrull War in the comics, but it’s unlikely the Fantastic Four film will cover this story.
‘Fantastic Four’ Cast Update
The ‘Fantastic Four’ production and casting are on hold due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Offers have been made to actors like Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Jake Gyllenhaal as Mister Fantastic, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Thing, but no contracts have been signed for the film yet.
Recently, director Matt Shakman revealed that the ‘Fantastic Four’ cast news won’t come right after the SAG-AFTRA strike ends, but it will be shared later, and he’s excited about the cast. Cameron Squires, known for ‘WandaVision‘ and ‘Agatha: Darkhold Diaries,’ will co-write the script for ‘Fantastic Four’ with Josh Friedman. The filming is scheduled to take place at Pinewood Studios in London in spring 2024.
In Fantastic Four, Galactus is confirmed as the main villain, and Antonio Banderas was offered the role a few months ago, but now Javier Bardem is reportedly being eyed. In Marvel Comics, Galactus is a powerful cosmic character known for consuming planets to survive. He’s not a traditional villain but a force of nature, often appearing in stories involving characters like the Fantastic Four.
Deadline reported: If AMPTP and SAG-AFRTA can agree on a new three-year deal, the plan is for ‘Deadpool 3’ to resume filming in January 2024.
Produced by Kevin Feige, Grant Curtis, and Nick Pepin. ‘Fantastic Four’ hits theaters on May 2, 2025.
