Starz Unveils First Look and Premiere Date for ‘Minx’ Season 2 After HBO Max Cancellation
Starz has officially released the first look and premiere of ‘Minx‘ Season 2. The show’s first season was aired on HBO Max, and the streamers surprisingly canceled season 2 during the final weeks of production. But Starz picked up the completed season and set a release date for July 21, 2023. The series is produced by Lionsgate, the parent company of Starz. See the first-look image below.
Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz, expressed his delight for the acquisition, stating, “We have always felt this show would be a perfect fit for our brand with our dedication to narratives by, about, and for women.” Hirsch added, “Starz is proud to be the new home for this incredible show that has drawn in well-deserved critical acclaim. We’re excited to welcome Ellen and the talented ‘Minx’ team to the network and can’t wait to bring its passionate fans the second season.”
The comedy series ‘Minx’ was created by Ellen Rapoport. On Twitter, Rapoport revealed the premiere date of Season 2 and also made a major point about the WGA strike. “This season was written in a 20-week room staffed by nine writers and zero robots.”
As per the logline, Minx is set in 1970s Los Angeles, and it centers around Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond), an earnest young feminist who joins forces with a low-rent publisher (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women.
‘Minx’ stars Ophelia Lovibond as Joyce, Jake Johnson as Sam, Idara Victor as Paula, Michael Angarano as Todd, Jessica Lowe as Wendy, Lennon Parham as Marcia, Oscar Montoya as Arturo, Calvin Demba as Max, and Alexandra Billings as Barbara. Elizabeth Perkins joined the second season as the recurring character Constance.
‘Minx’ Season 2 is set to premiere on July 21, exclusively on Starz.
