Netflix has revealed the first look teaser and release date for the “Bird Box” spin-off titled “Bird Box Barcelona.” The film is an adaptation of the terrifying novel by Josh Malerman and stars Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Celia Freijeiro, Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia. According to the film’s plot, “From the producers of the global phenomenon, Bird Box, comes Bird Box Barcelona, an expansion of the film that riveted audiences in 2018. After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows.”
The film is written and directed by Álex Pastor and David Pastor. Produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan, Núria Valls, Adrián Guerra, Josh Malerman, and Ryan Lewis, “Bird Box Barcelona” is executive produced by Ainsley Davies and Brian Williams.
The film’s director of photography is Daniel Aranyó, with production design by Laia Colet, editing by Martí Roca, and costume design by Alberto Valcárcel. Jesús Martos and Patricia Reyes are the hair and makeup designers. Zeltia Montes composed the music, while Marc Orts served as the production sound mixer. The casting director for “Bird Box Barcelona” is Anna González.
The original “Bird Box” film starring Sandra Bullock is a post-apocalyptic horror film that was released on Netflix in December 2018. The film stars Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Danielle Macdonald, and Sarah Paulson, among others.
